Web Page Philosophy
St. Paul's Web Site is made up of many pages. These Pages are intentionally kept small so as to load as quickly as possible. The pages contain as few pictures as possible for the same reason. The exception to this is the picture pages, which are always linked from another page, so that the user has a choice as to whether or not they want to wait for pictures to down load.

Navigation between pages is handled in many ways and sometimes several different types of connections are made to the same pages so that the user has a choice of methods. These different methods are explained in the various sections below.

Pictures
Pictures on main pages are sometimes used to link to other pages. Pictures of church events almost always link to other pictures from the same event. Clicking on those pictures will open the new page in your current window.

Once you have linked to a picture page, links to other pages are handled by buttons (see below) or Link Boxes (see below). Using the web browser back button will take you back to the last page you visited.

Picture Pages generally contain smaller pictures of poor quality so they will load as quickly as possible. However, if you wish to view the picture with better quality or save it to print, clicking on the picture will generally open a better quality larger view. When you are done viewing the picture, using your browser back button will take you back to the picture page.

Links
Standard links between pages and to other sites can be accomplished by clicking on underlined text. Titles are to only exception to this rule, they generally are not links, but are just underlined to make them stand out.

"Return to the top of the page" below, is an example of an underline link.

Graphics
This is an example of two different graphics. The first is just for effect. The second provides a link to another site.

Clicking on top of the second graphic will link you to a differnt site. Most graphics used on this web site are of the first type. Linking graphics are for the most part only on the "SPECIAL LINKS Page". (See link to that page at the bottom of most pages)

The only exception to this is that the Synod symbols are links to the ELCA and New England Synod Web Sites.
