Our janitor discovered the robbery and vandalism Monday night when he arrived to clean the facility after Easter services. The church was entered through a side door where they broke a window and burned through the plexiglas. The safe was forced open and the entire offerings for Holy Week and Easter were stolen, along with a sound system, DVD player, a communion chalice and other items. The library and church offices were ransacked, communion wine was spilled all over the sanctuary, urine was found in several locations and a fire extinguisher was emptied all over the library.
Police said they believe the robbery took place Easter Sunday evening. They have issued arrest warrants for four suspects in this case. At this writing, some of the stolen items have been recovered by the police but the money and the communion chalice are still missing as well as three of the suspects who reportedly fled the state.
A service for information and healing was held on Wednesday evening, April 19, 2006. The clean up of the facility is pretty much complete, but the healing will take some time yet.

WORK COMPLETE ON EXTERIOR BRICKWORK OF CHURCH
JULY-AUGUST 2005
Kronenberger has completed work on the masonry restoration and the removal of scaffolding is also complete. We are still looking for donations to the Adopt-A-Window Campaign so the window frame repairs and painting can be done. Until the work on the windows is done we can not count on a weatherproof exterior and the water damage may continue. With the dry weather that we had this Summer, the damage has not worstened. However, we must get the windows completed before winter sets in. If you haven't participated in the window campaign, please consider doing so. Anyone interested in the Adopt-A-Window Campaign can contact the church office for information or to make a contribution.

St. Paul is sponsoring new missionaries: Leslie Weed-Fonner and Rev. Michael Fonner, who are serving as missionaries in South Korea. Michael serves as Pastor of the International Lutheran Church in Seoul. Leslie's position is still to be determined but will probably involve social work. You are invited to support their Ministry anytime by using the "Missionaries" envelopes found in the pews. Make checks payable to: St. Paul Lutheran Church and write in memo: missionaries.
